About Me

My Photo
Michael Deibert
An author and journalist, my interests include the sultry ebb of reggae and kompa, many things about Rio de Janeiro, the bookstalls of Bombay, New Orleans, Caribbean rum, the Great Lakes Region of Africa, Guatemala, the US-Mexico border and the lambi creole at Anba Tonel in Port-au-Prince. I try to educate myself by devouring books in as many languages as I can, and by reporting from the field in places where I may be of some use to the struggle of economically and socially disadvantaged people to lead more just and decent lives.
